This image of the cranefly was derived from over 100 individual images, each separated from one another by a paltry 41 microns. This is also the full image, filling the frame of a Nikon APS-C DSLR. Zoom in on the individual lenses of the compound eye to see just how much detailed has been captured. And this image was captured with only 4x magnification!
