Killing Bugs in the Netherlands
/Greetings All…
A few days ago I received a delightful message from a gentleman who calls the Netherlands home. I don’t get a ton of comments from the Netherlands. I don’t get a ton of messages from the US either, but that’s beside the point.
Henri got in touch to tell me that he appreciated one of my macro photography videos on YouTube, and that’s always the best king of message to get. In the video, I had touched briefly on killing specimens for extreme macro photography and mentioned how I use an ethyl acetate killing jar. Henri wanted to show me how he has been using his own version of the killing jar. Right off the bat, I was sold on his invention, mainly because of the name - translated from the Dutch, it goes by the name of the “SUFFOCATE POT”! That is an awesome name, and way better than killing jar.
Anyway, I wanted to share Henri’s description of the cool bug slaughtering chamber, so here it is! You might notice that it is Dutch, which may be problematic if you are as linguistically challenged as I am - but Google Translate helps a lot.

While you are there, take a look at the rest of Henri’s site. He is just getting started, so show our Dutch friend some love and leave him a message!
