Making Sense of Lens Adapters in Macro Photography

I get asked some version of this question at least once a week…

… and it is a legitimate question. “How do I attach an enlarger lens to my camera, bellows, or extension tubes?” and “How do I reverse a lens, or connect a reversed lens to one that isn’t?”.

When I did a couple of videos on macro photography with regular lenses and talked about how we can get great results with the lenses we already have, I didn’t give much time to answering these questions. I should have, because it can all be a bit mystifying for macro newcomers.

I was asked the same question again this week and I decided it was time to address the issue with a video. So if you have any questions about how to set up your macro rig using techniques like lens reversal, lens stacking, or enlarger lens photography, this video is for you. I take you through all the various in ways in which a lens, or group of lenses, can be mounted, and introduce you to the 5 lens adapters you might end up needing.

Hope this helps clear things up!
