The Circle of Confusion - Chapter One

Something new!

This is episode number 1 of a new series of bite-sized videos where I answer questions that have come up over the prior few days. It is a great way to fill in any information gaps left by earlier videos and dig a little deeper into areas of interest.

I’ll be doing these videos every time I have enough useful content, based on your questions, to cram into a 10 minute segment.

In Chapter One I correct an omission from the video on how to use the bellows in macro photography. I describe the less familiar “rear bellows focusing” technique and explain when and how to use it - something I failed to do in the earlier video. The technique is a clear exception to the rule “keep the camera and lens positions fixed” to focus, and it is a powerful alternative when photographing larger subjects.

A bee with bad skin

Next up I address a viewer question, “how to clean a bee without getting it wet?”. I introduce a couple of dry cleaning methods that I use regularly but haven’t discussed previously. They involve the use a couple of new tools, specialty brushes from the hobby shop, which I show you how to use.

Hope you like the new format for these short videos! Your comments are always welcome.
